Office Removals and Fitters

Although it is much more common with industrial rather than office premises, sometimes we may need to call upon the services of a professional fitter to assist with your removal.

In fact, more correctly, we may need help from a de-fitter!

Why?

In many industrial premises, health and safety requirements demand that certain types of machinery or other objects are virtually permanently fixed to the floor or the surrounding walls.  That’s usually because if you have say a two-tonne press, you don’t want it vibrating and moving around the floor as you use it.

What is perhaps less obvious is that sometimes in standard commercial and even office premises, similar logic has been applied in the past.  For example, if you have an older-style office with tall racking for lots of paper file storage, there’s a fair chance that it will be fixed into the walls or the floor (or both) to reduce the risks of it toppling over.

The same can also be true in shops where shop fittings are designed to be “public-proof” in the sense of stopping potential shoppers injuring themselves as pieces of furniture or other fittings come down on top of them. Read more about Office Removals and Fitters.

What Moving Company Fits You?

Selecting the right moving companies that fit your needs can be tricky. Few things to consider are the following:

Does the company charge additional for larger items like pianos, big screen televisions, or some additional flights of stairs during the transfer? This isn't uncommon, and will fluctuate from every corporation. Does the firm have testimonials? Look into if the provider is reliable by reading testimonials of previous clients and checking the Better Business Bureau to ascertain whether the business is trustworthy. Most reputable businesses take a deposit to hold your relocation, and deposits are refundable within a particular number of days ahead of your move should you cancel. Make sure you ask whether the deposit goes on your transfer, or whether it is non-refundable.

Never pay for a quote! For large houses with over three bedrooms, it is suggested to obtain an onsite estimate so that you may thoroughly recognize all things which have to be transferred -- do not overlook the basement and the attic.

Are things insured during the transfer? Movers may be secured and insured, but it does not mean that your possessions are insured during the move. Some countries require companies set a valuation of 60 cents for every pound of coverage.

Does the company supply a service window when you can anticipate your movers to get there? On the day of the relocation, it is important to get contact numbers of the manager or customer support agent at your fingertips should you want anything in any way. Will the firm provide a telephone number for a client service professional or supervisor who's available throughout the transfer when any challenges arise? A respectable moving companies NZ will offer a contact number at which you'll be able to reach a staff member at any moment.

Is the company licensed? Does the firm carry Workers' Compensation for workers? Reputable moving business carry Workers' Compensation, providing you reassurance for a client should anything occur.

How can they charge? For instance: is it from the hour? Long-distance moves are controlled, and will frequently be dependent on miles and weight. Make sure to inquire how they charge in case you are moving long-distance inside the country or across state lines. Irrespective of the services that you select, Christchurch movers produced a comprehensive list of information to assemble from moving companies because you are doing your own research. Additionally, it is sensible to consult your nation's moving and storage institution to find local regulations that are relevant to movers in your region.

What type of coaching possess their movers and movers finished? Reputable moving businesses ought to be able to let you know exactly what training their workers have finished to prepare them for your occupation. Can they use full-time workers, or do they utilize temps daily laborers? Be wary of companies which don't employ permanent workers, but they might not be suitably trained or insured.

FAQS – Removal Times and Punctuality

Here is another in our series of periodic FAQs received from our clients and our responses.

Can you guarantee you will be on time in terms of your removal schedule estimations?

We can absolutely and unconditionally guarantee that we will do everything humanly possible to ensure that our timings are exactly as we initially estimated.

When we make a commitment to our clients, it is something we take very seriously and we do not tolerate performance failures in our business or removals teams.

However, there are certain circumstances that are not under our control.

That might include things such as accidents which lead to traffic jams or road closures due to security incidents etc.  What we promise is to keep you fully informed in any such situations where delays may arise that are beyond our control.

How long does it take you to remove all the goods from a typical house?

It’s almost impossible to say because so much depends on the day as to whether or not everything is packed and ready to go and simply needs lifting out.  If that’s the case, it may take no more than a couple of hours or so for a moderately sized property.

Of course, if you have a large property with lots of possessions and these all need to be carefully packed, it may sometimes take the best part of a day to complete the work.

Why You Should Speak To Us About Removals Insurance

We always take exceptional care with your household items.

That’s something you can 100% rely on.

However, there’s an important point we’d like to remind you about – it relates to removals insurance and removals companies – Christchurch and elsewhere.

Our cover

It’s exceptionally unlikely that you would ever encounter a situation where you felt we were responsible for the loss or breakage of one of your items. Yet we’re human and accidents can sometimes happen.

For example, if one of our team trips and falls over whilst loading one of your items and as a result, it suffers damage, then we are fully insured for such eventualities.

It’s important to note though that this is not global removals cover designed to protect your interests.

What that means

Our standard household removals cover exists in order to protect our liabilities to you as a customer.  In other words, it means that if something went wrong and we admitted liability, we would be able to meet your just claims through our insurers.

As we have said before though – that cover typically will not protect you against a range of circumstances that you’re liable for.

Household Removals and Motorcycles

Quite often, when a household has a motorcycle or two, they often ride them to their new home rather than put them in as part of the general household removal.

However, sometimes that is just not possible for a variety of reasons  So, there may be a need for help from the provider of the vehicle for furniture removals. Removals businesses can usually accommodate such requirements.

Here are a few things to keep in mind though if you find yourself in a similar position:

  • before we can accept your motorcycle onto one of our vehicles, it must be fully drained of fuel and any other combustible liquids. We must reserve the right to refuse to carry a motorcycle unless this condition has been met;
  • we would also strongly advise that, where possible, things such as oil and hydraulic fluids are similarly drained down – assuming your owner’s manual confirms that is possible without damage to the machine. That’s because such liquids can be corrosive and may ruin other items on the vehicle if they escape due to a leak;
  • how your motorcycle is secured on our vehicle may vary depending upon the former’s size and weight. Light mopeds and lighter machines will need to be immobilised and secured in some fashion to the framework of our vehicle.  In the case of heavier machines or those that are prestige models with high values, we may strongly advise or in some cases require that your bike is professionally crated before loading;

How To Camouflage Your Empty Property

It’s a matter of fact that criminals like burglars and vandals will usually go out of their way to try and identify unoccupied properties.

That’s because, in spite of what you might see on TV, the vast majority of such crooks don’t like the thought of discovery and confrontation. They will almost always try to select a house or flat that they believe is empty at the time they set about their business.

So, if you are going away on holiday or have a slight delay in moving into a house you have just purchased, it’ll be in your interest to try and hide the fact that nobody is living in it at the current time.

Here are a few practical ideas that might help even if they are not directly related to Christchurch removals as such:

• Don’t let post visibly accumulate in your post box, letterbox or on the floor of your hall. Criminals will spot that in an instant.

• If you are going to be away for some time, get a neighbour to keep your garden and external areas in good tidy condition. In particular, make sure the grass is regularly cut.

FAQs - Burglary Prevention and Home Removals

In what follows below, an expert in the removals industry will offer some responses to questions relating to burglary prevention when moving home.

Why are the subjects of home removals and burglary linked?

In many respects, they are not!

Burglary is unfortunately an ever-present risk for almost every householder and that's the case whether you have been living in a property for years or are in the course of moving home.

However, there may be times when burglary can be linked to home removals. That might happen in situations where you own or are renting a property but are unable to immediately move into it for one reason or another.

As burglars typically prefer unoccupied properties, the risks may be higher in such circumstances.

Don’t Economise On Cartons

It is sometimes the case that when we arrive for Christchurch removals where the owners have done their own packing, we immediately become concerned about the quality of the cardboard cartons they have used.

Although we have touched on this one before in our blogs, it’s so important we’ve decided to revisit the subject.

The cartons you pack your household goods in serve two purposes:

  • to keep your goods inside and easily transportable;
  • to stop their contents being crushed by other cartons or household materials stacked on top of  them.

Obviously, nobody wants their precious items rolling about loose in the back of a removals van.  So, it’s important that the cartons are strong enough to prevent even sometimes relatively heavy items falling through the bottom of them.
